New COVID-19 Safety Protocol for MMS Performances

Please read the following before purchasing tickets as there have been several changes to our concert attendance policy.

Due to the rise of the highly contagious Delta variant across the state and nation, we are announcing new safety protocols for Maine Music Society events at the Franco Center.

Effective immediately, all MMS audience members, staff, volunteers and performers age 12 and over will be required to:

1.  Provide proof of vaccination against Covid-19.

Accepted proof of vaccination includes the original vaccination card, a printed copy of the vaccination card, or a digital photograph of the vaccination card. The final dose of the vaccine must have been administered 14 days prior to event start time.

OR

Provide printed proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR test from an authorized provider within 72 hours prior to the event start time or a negative rapid test within 12 hours prior to the event start time.

Accepted proof of negative test includes a printed or digital copy of negative Covid-19 PCR test from an authorized provider within 72 hours prior to the event start time, or a printed or digital copy of negative Covid-19 rapid test within 12 hours prior to the event start time. At home test results will not be accepted.

Children under 12 years of age do not have to show proof of vaccination against Covid- 19 or proof of negative Covid-19 test, but they are required to wear a face mask while inside the Franco Center.

2.  Wear a mask at all times while in the Franco Center.

Unless being otherwise exempt from wearing a mask because of a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Wear a mask that covers your nose, mouth, and chin, unless you have a written medical exemption.

Scarves, neck gaiters, or other loosely woven materials are not acceptable alternatives to wearing a mask.

Masks are also required for all attendees over 2 years of age, and are to be worn at all times while in the facilities.

3. Current ticket holders or subscribers unable to comply with these safety protocols may opt to take advantage of free exchanges into other MMS concerts in the 2021-22 season, donate the cost of your tickets, or request a  full refund by calling MMS at 333-3386.

These policies for our collective health and safety will remain in effect until further notice and are subject to change.

Online Auction a Great Success!

Thank you to all the donors and bidders who participated in our recent Online Auction.

And a special thank you to the sponsors:

  • Bates Mill Dermatology, Inc.
  • DeBlois Electric, Inc.
  • Linnell, Choate & Webber
  • Maine Family Federal Credit Union
  • Platz Associates
  • Roopers Beverage & Redemption
  • The Vault

Our 4th annual online auction had 76 participants bidding on 95 items generously donated by singers and local businesses.  This yielded $8321 in sales and $1050 in Auction sponsorships for total of $9371.  HOWEVER, there were a number of  people who rounded up their bids and others who donated directly to the auction rather than bidding. This enabled MMS to realize their goal of $10,000. Thank you!

Your support helps to ensure the financial health of the organization and enables MMS to continue providing the community with outstanding choral performances.

Join us on December 11 & 12 as we make a Triumphant Return to Singing with our holiday concert, A Season of Celebration at the Gendron Franco Center.

Maine Music Society Introduces New Artistic Director

The Maine Music Society is pleased to welcome Dr. Richard Nickerson as its new Artistic Director. Rick comes to us as one of the most experienced and highly regarded choral directors in Maine. Most notable among his conducting roles are the Windham High School Chamber Singers, the Portland “Magic of Christmas” chorus and the Boy Singers of Maine. Although our 2020-2021 season has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the Maine Music Society Chorale, Chamber Singers and Orchestra are excited about working with Rick and finding new ways to reach out to the community and continue their quest of making music soar.
